As part of the new urban renewal Project in İzmir The Municipality of Konak has asked for a new building at thia old run down part of the city. Our aim was to design a building as well an urban park to revitalize the public activity around the new building both for commercial activities and public recreational zones. New building was to become a natural expantion pf the park. From the park side public is drawn in to the uilding via a ramp that sets the base for the municipal building. Consdering the mild Eagean weather the idea of connection between inside and outside space in this building becomes very critical in term of design. Some of the aspects of the buiding areas such as the main lobby, cafe and restaurant facilities culd be totall opened to the outside allowing this civic building to become part of the public life and activities.
